Verdict

COTTAGE OAK finished runner-up over timber at this meeting a year ago before beating a huge field at Punchestown three weeks later. He hasn't been seen since a moderate effort at Tipperary in June but looks a really nice chasing prospect. So Determined looks a real threat judged on his narrow defeats over fences here and at Roscommon in August. He was never in contention when falling in the race won by Realt Dubh at Navan the following month but the subsequent exploits of the winner show he had an impossible task. Winning point-to-pointer Carmun showed nothing over timber but was in the lead when falling at the fifth on his chasing bow at Fairyhouse last week and can do better over the bigger obstacles.
