In depth

Verdict

This isn't a maiden but none of the entries have ever won a race. Thakeham has returned to Ireland after a spell in the UK where he ran in sellers. He's not badly handicapped but Blue Cannon appeared to find his best form when sent over a mile at Naas and may find this too short. Going Gaga has shown ability but looks high enough in the weights while Jim Bolger has resorted to first-time blinkers for Ceist Nua, who weakened very quickly over a mile at Killarney last time. PORT ELIZABETH steps up to today's trip for the first time and that could prove decisive as she has been staying on over shorter. She's related to useful winners and could prove well handicapped. Big Bad Tyson is another who should be suited by this longer trip though he hasn't shown much to date.
