Verdict

Dorydalis landed a point at Ballinaboola in February than ran well enough behind Red Jack at Fairyhouse in April to suggest a race of this nature should be within his capabilities before going hurdling. However, BRACE YOURSELF couldn't quite hold on in a maiden point at Portrush in October but went for £165,000 at the sales a month later and can start repaying some of that purchase fee. Smoking Gun is a half-brother to a couple of decent winners and if the market speaks in his favour it would be no surprise to see him making a successful start.
