Le Rouge Alex won a Down Royal claimer a month ago but ran better when runner-up in a tough Fairyhouse nursery later where Catfromtherock, Lonrach and Ok Annie were behind and are seemingly held though Lonrach is tried in first-time blinkers. Antiquus started favourite for a similar event at Down Royal but didn't enjoy the clearest of runs and can reverse positions with Nara Datta, who finished just in front. THE KERNIGAL was conceding Le Rouge Alex 8lb in that Down Royal claimer and wasn't beaten far. He will be receiving 5lb this time and is given the nod on his handicap debut under Johnny Murtagh. The consistent filly Kanes Pass is another to consider in an open nursery.
