Most of theses are having their first start on the surface though Tilly Trotter won a maiden over the track and trip in April and reappeared after a long break with a good run in a nursery at Naas. She has the scope to do better and can reverse the form of that latest effort with runner-up Sammyjade, though the latter has improved with every run. Arabian Verse just failed to concede 5lb to tonight's rival Miss Cogent at Cork in June and is much better than she showed at Naas the following month. Elusive Beauty was slightly disappointing last time as she'd been in good form in much better company earlier. Her close third behind Roly Poly in a Group 3 at the Curragh would make her very difficult to beat though that was over 6f on ground with some give. PORTO FERRO gave supporters of the odds-on Courage Under Fire a fright at Naas and the winner was thought good enough to run in a Group 3 at Newmarket earlier today. Johnny Murtagh's filly is handed the vote in an interesting opener.
