Verdict

CHESS GRAND MASTER reappeared a month ago after a very long break to land a maiden over the track and trip. He was stepped up to 2m in a conditions' race last week and was always travelling nicely to see off Kerosin. This is a more difficult task but he looks capable of better and a hat-trick beckons. Political Policy, who has won eight times around here, was behind in that latter event while Park Row was 2l behind Kerosin over shorter in December but this is his trip as he showed when battling on to beat Markhan last month. Trevena looks a big threat to all. Twice a winner for Ed Walker in the UK, she was returning after a break when beaten a short-head by Theobald two weeks ago and will be difficult to keep out of the frame. California Lad hasn't won for a year but is still 8lb higher after several near misses.
