EMPIRE STATE has produced three narrow defeats and one poor run at Cork in four starts. He attempted to make all over this trip at Gowran and was only caught close home so compensation awaits. His stable companion Globe Theatre is by Galileo out of the Oaks winner Was so it will be a surprise if he can't improve dramatically from his opening run at the Curragh in August. Excelsius couldn't handle heavy ground at Galway but his earlier head defeat over a mile at Killarney, where he was headed on the line after making the running, puts him right in the picture. Repetitio makes a quick reappearance after a reasonable effort here on Friday but the remainder with experience have shown little. Tails I Win is a newcomer to note in the market as she is a half-sister to four winners and has a Dirt pedigree but Numerian may do better in time.
