Verdict

Eight of the past ten winners have carried nine stone or more and low numbers have generally prevailed. COMPTON, a winner over 7f on fast ground at Ascot for Ralph Beckett, has joined Robert Cowell, who won this last year. He's had a couple of runs for new connections to put him straight and with his young rider's claim taken into account he looks well enough treated to take this. Dr Red Eye enters the fray in outstanding form having won three times over 7f. He rarely runs over a trip this short nowadays and could just find a couple too speedy. Gabbiano is on a hat-trick but is 5lb higher for winning a Class 4 at Ascot on fast ground and this is much tougher. Gandalak found a mile beyond him at Chester and has the highest draw and Seeking Magic is 9lb higher than when scoring at Leicester. Charlotte Rosina scored on Polytrack last time but had been running well on turf and will enjoy the cut in the ground.
