In depth

Verdict

The 2004 Oaks winner Ouija Board makes her first start in the UK this season here but Ed Dunlop's star mare may have to settle for a minor role behind Shirocco, who did well to defy his penalty at Newmarket in the Jockey Club Stakes on his return and is fancied to follow up here with Ace rated the best of the rest. The selection may arguable prefer a softer surface but there is no reason why he should not be as effective on this ground and is taken to provide Andre Fabre with another winner in the Coronation Cup. Sir Michael Stoute's Notable Guest showed progressive form in handicaps and Group 3 races last term and is just the type that the Newmarket handler excels with but this looks too tough for him, while Enforcer and Something Exciting look to be out of their depth. Ouija Board certainly has the class to land this prize but Ed Dunlop's mare has not been at her best in her last two starts and a safer bet looks to be Shirocco, who is preferred.
