Verdict
Meshaheer takes a welcome drop in class and should be hard to beat on these favourable terms. The son of Nureyev showed himself a smart juvenile last term when a close third behind Johannesburg in the Prix Morny and was the subject of strong support prior to the 2,000 Guineas. The confidence proved misplaced but the colt bounced back with a fine placed effort in the Jersey Stakes before finding the drop to six furlongs too sharp in the July Cup last time. This looks a good opportunity for the three-year-old to get back on track. Mugharreb is not far short of the best sprinters around but is a difficult ride and is far from certain to prove as effective over this longer trip. Neither Welcome Friend or Late Night Out appear to be at their best at present while the penalised Atavus has it all to do at the weights so recent convincing Chester winner, Royal Quarters, may prove best of the remainder.
