        Verdict

        Optimaite appreciated a change in tactics when coming from well off the pace to land a Newbury handicap over 1m3f last time off a mark of 86. Rod Millman's charge can confirm placings with the third-placed Praire Wolf on thes terms but may not be ideally served by dropping back in trip while Michael Bell's charge is not the most consistent and can't be backed with confidence so the vote goes to Mahmoos. John Gosden's charge overcame a long absence and inexperience to land a maiden at Newmarket late last month. The form has been given a timely boost by the runner-up at Newcastle on Monday and this scopey individual looks to have plenty of improvement to come.
