In depth

Highland Acclaim won last year’s renewal off a higher mark though never threatened when third over 7f here last week. This is tougher than the race Aleef won at Hamilton last month and Jeopardy John and Roundabout Magic are also raised in class. Seprani won here last year and an apprentice’s allowance helps his cause but RELATED was beaten only a neck at Doncaster last time and gets the nod to come out best with a similar effort. George Dryden slides further down the weights and today’s drop in class could see a better effort from him.

George Dryden (IRE) 8-1 (9-1) Keen close up, ridden 2f out, kept on same pace, 6th of 12, 6l behind Cenotaph (8-11) at Chelmsford City 6f hcp (3) pol in Jun.

Related 6-1 (9-3) Tracked leaders, headway over 2f out, effort over 1f out, ridden inside final furlong, stayed on to press winner towards finish, just held, 2nd of 11, nk behind Hackney Road (9-1) at Doncaster 6f hcp (4) gf in Jun.

Highland Acclaim (IRE) 14-1 (9-10) Led, ridden over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, kept on same pace, well held when lost 2nd near finish, 3rd of 6, 5 1/4l behind Hateya (9-2) at Epsom 7f hcp (4) gf in Jul.

Aleef (IRE) Evensfav (9-7) Held up in mid-division, headway towards inside when not clear run and squeezed through over 1f out, kept on, never able to threaten, 6th of 10, 2 1/2l behind Something Lucky (9-7) at Chelmsford City 5f hcp (4) pol in Jul.

Very Honest (IRE) 7-1 (9-1) Chased leaders, ridden over 1f out, went modest 4th post, 4th of 7, 4 1/4l behind Hackney Road (9-2) at Kempton 6f hcp fll (4) pol in Jun.

Seprani 8-1 (9-6) Towards rear, headway over 1f out, soon ridden, kept on same pace, 3rd of 7, 1 1/4l behind Mythical Spirit (9-4) at Doncaster 5f hcp fll (4) gf in Jul.

Roundabout Magic (IRE) 11-4 (9-10) In touch, smooth headway over 1f out, chased winner approaching final furlong, kept on under pressure, 3rd of 7, 3 3/4l behind Glamorous Rocket (9-1) at Lingfield 5f hcp (5) gf in Jun.

Jeopardy John 4-1 (9-7) Led, ridden and headed inside final furlong, soon rallied, always held, 2nd of 4, 3/4l behind Jack Taylor (10-1) at Brighton 5f hcp (5) fm in Jul.
