Verdict
A high draw and early pace are paramount in terms of finding the winner of a race like this and those who fit the bill are Bali Royal, Dubaian Gift, Jayanjay and Atlantic Viking. The latter, one of two David Nicholls runners in this, ran well enough from a poor draw on his reappearance at Beverley and was a course and distance winner last year so merits the utmost respect. Dubaian Gift was drawn badly on his reappearance at Thirsk and his saddle slipped as well, so that run can be ignored. He is better judged on his win at Haydock at the end of last season and is another who seems sure to go well. Jayanjay bounced back to his best when beating subsequent scorer Mutasawwar at Brighton last time, but may find this a little harder and we prefer to side with Bali Royal. One of three Milton Bradley runners here, she went down in a three-way photo to the smart sprinters Repertory and Peruvian Chief on her latest start at Newbury. With ideal conditions here, she seems sure to go even better today and looks well worth supporting.
