Verdict

The market may be the best guide to the chances of newcomer Marronnier, who has already been gelded, though he is a half-brother to three winners including the useful Naadirr. INDIAN VICEROY was runner-up in a competitive Goodwood nursery before landing the odds in a similar race to this at Newmarket. He’s rated 7lb higher than Water Diviner, who will struggle to reverse Goodwood running on only 3lb better terms. Jean Valjean improved on his first run when fourth at Leicester and this extra furlong could see that progress maintained.
