In depth

Verdict

Onlytime Will Tell has almost too obvious a chance to strike in this company and, despite the likelihood of short odds being available, it is hard to see Nisr nor Full Spate being good enough to stop him when he hits full throttle coming down the hill. Full Spate has been a game and consistent performer over the years that has winning form on most types of ground. He is effective in this grade but, as he is now approaching the veteran stage of his career, it is debatable as to whether he can find the necessary improvement required to get one over on the selection. Nisr poses a bigger threat and has a reasonable chance at the weights. However, he has not won a race in over four years and is not one to rely upon too heavily. Even though the last time he was successful he handed Full Spate weight and a beating. Therefore, the balance of evidence points towards another successful raid on Epsom prize-money for David Nicholls. The Thirsk-based trainer has an excellent strike-rate in claimers and leaves no stone unturned with his planning. Onlytime Will Tell looks a typical runner for this grade of race and is fully expected to appreciate the ease in competition today.
