Verdict
Dusty Bandit looked held when falling at the final flight in a novices' hurdle at Chepstow last month and while having to be respected on his handicap debut the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding may struggle to concede so much weight to Robbie On Tour, who is preferred to Musical Mayhem. The selection showed his best form when chasing home Rosetown in a handicap at Fontwell last month and despite a 6lb rise since then Martin Pipe's gelding still looks well treated. David Wintle's Musical Mayhem ran well on his first start since August 2002 when finding just the improving Celtic Son too good at Taunton last month. A reproduction of that effort would see him go close but there is every chance that the 12-year-old will bounce so he may be best left out of calculations. Mrs Pickles has more to do for her neck success over Scratch The Dove at Hereford last week under a 7lb penalty and a bigger threat may come from L'Orphelin, who is well treated back over hurdles. Malmo Boy has a bit to find with the selection on running behind Rosetown and of more interest may be the Venetia Williams-trained Riders Revenge, who tackles a new trip today. The vote though goes to Robbie On Tour, who is taken to make the most of the weight that he receives from his main rivals.
