In depth

Verdict

THEOLOGIST finished a close-up fifth over 2m4f in soft ground at Sandown earlier this month. He can race off the same mark today and his earlier win at Stratford came over a longer trip. He should make his fitness count here against the likes of Flying Award, who ended last season with a double and is 6lb higher on his return and Inkberrow Rose, who was winning at Bangor when last seen in March. Painter Man, Far From Blonde and Lord Crewe have even longer absences to overcome and Sapphire Rouge will need to step up on her recent second at Plumpton to figure.
