Verdict
The Phillip Hobbs team remain in good form and, as such, Saint Romble is selected to narrowly edge a tight handicap that looks as competitive a race to found anywhere from today's action. The shortlist of dangers includes: Sunshan, who came good at Taunton last time, Maybeseven, who gets in off a featherweight and has a 10lb conditional booked and Regal Chance, who is still well weighted and arrives her with a solid profile from his light career to date. However, Saint Romble is also on an attractive mark and should have enough improvement left in him to figure strongly at this level. The predicted heavy showers will aid his cause if the rain has got into the ground by post time and this looks a fair opportunity for Saint Romble and Richard Johnson to rekindle what has been a fairly profitable acquaintance from win and place money amassed since the gelding arrived from France three years ago.
