In depth

Verdict

A big field but MALAWI is likely to be at short odds despite being a beaten favourite in both starts. The son of Galileo was mugged on the line by Point Nepean at Navan but today's faster conditions can see him off the mark. Xeres wasn't far behind in third though looks held but the winner is trained by Joseph O'Brien, who has two entries and it would be no surprise if Okita Soushi turned the selection over. He's by Galileo and the first foal of a mare who won at Group 1 level in Australia. The filly Acqua Di Gioia is yet another by Galileo out of the Group 2 winner Sapphire so she's one to keep an eye on.
