Verdict

EARLY WINGS is the tentative suggestion in a tricky handicap in which King's Majesty has obvious claims whilst Monsieur should also go well. Caroline Bailey's charge has a good bit to prove on the evidence of his three starts over hurdles for Richard Phillips last season as he finished well held in midfield on each occasion. In a former life he had been a pretty smart sort as he got to within nine lengths of Manduro in a German Group 3 in 2004 and also made the frame in a Listed hurdle at Baden Baden on his jumping bow in 2006. He's had his problems since then but he hasn't many miles on the clock and may retain sufficient ability to take advantage of his lowly handicap mark. This track should suit the free-running Monsieur who departed fairly on at Kelso but who had previously lost out in a photo in a Uttoxeter seller; he's competitive in handicap company from this mark. King's Majesty won well on debut for Alex Hales and has sound claims under a penalty in a similar contest and the presence of Monsieur should ensure that this hold-up performer is guaranteed the strong pace that he craves. High Profit is considered on his handicap bow if the market gives out the right signals; Zizou also falls into that category as he landed a touch at Worcester in July and isn't on too bad a mark once the claim of his rider (who has ridden winners in Ireland) is taken into account. Preference though is for Early Wings.
