Verdict

ROMEO DESBOIS is the pick with Aupcharlie and Salford Rose likely players on paper. The former pointer would not ordinarily enter many people's minds as a betting proposition but with the combination of Rebecca Curtis and Tony McCoy enjoying particular success in this sphere, one has to be confident that this latest recruit will be able to give a good account of himself first time out. Aupcharlie did not do a lot wrong at Hexham and one would imagine that he'll make a decent horse over further if his breeding is to be believed. Salford Rose is a daughter of the useful middle distance flat performer, Salford Express, so the market has to be watched closely bearing in mind she can claim allowances for age and gender. Jump Up was a beaten favourite in a similar contest at Worcester in June though Tony McCoy has gone elsewhere. Shadow's Gold is a son of St Leger hero, Moonax, so fast ground should not be an issue. Floridahall has had a sizeable absence since making his last appearance between the flags and might just need it. Romeo Desbois is the selection in a race where the market should offer us plenty of food for thought.
