Verdict

Rebecca Curtis trained the winner of the only previous renewal of this bumper and her Flemensfirth newcomer CHEAT THE CHEATER can oblige today. He cost £38,000 at the Newbury sales in November and is a half-brother to four winning jumpers including the top-class Takagi. Whisper, a full brother to a Fibresand bumper winner and a decent hurdler in France, is another interesting debutant while Al Alfa won a point-to-point in December and also represents a top yard. Peter Bowen saddles It's a Mistake and Berea Boru but both will probably need further in time.
