In depth

Verdict

This is another competitive race in which we will side with SEA WALL as the potential winner, while Bantry Bere and Tarsus are worth adding to the shortlist. The selection has been knocking on the door of late finishing second in his last two races. He was only narrowly beaten behind Lucky Luck at Towcester last time out and is only one pound worse off, so if repeating that same level of form he is sure to go close. Bantry Bere fell two out when looking like winning at Southwell last time out. He had dropped rapidly down the weights over the past twelve months and that was his first real sign of form for some time. He has been raised five pounds for his improved performance even though he failed to get round which seems harsh, but if back to his best he is still potentially well treated on old form so any market support should be noted. Tarsus won back-to-back races at Chepstow and Bangor before failing to hand his hat-trick at Wincanton last month. He has gone up 10 pounds in the ratings and it could be the fact that the handicapper has finally caught up with him. Sea Wall was rated 10 pounds higher over hurdles and can take advantage of his lenient chase mark.
