Verdict
Nikki Steel, a winning pointer, switches to fences after a close-up second behind a subsequent winner over hurdles at Towcester. A dual winner over the smaller obstacles, he has every chance of making a successful start to his chasing career but we might give one more chance to JOUEUR BRESILIEN as his second at Robinshill at Ludlow in November was good form – he is 2lb lower now and Richard Johnson is back in the saddle. Comanche Chieftain has shaped with promise in both starts over fences while Dark Invader was only beaten a neck at Worcester 10 days ago. One For Billy makes his fencing bow but his yard remains in fine form and he’ll know what’s required.
