In depth

Verdict

ST JOHN’S was fair second on his handicap debut at Ludlow. Lightly raced, he should have more to offer and can shrug off a 3lb rise to open his account. Sea Of Mystery has shown little so far, however, and the fitting of cheekpieces smacks of desperation. Seniergues also has the aids for the first time having dropped out quickly at Uttoxeter, though the 3m that day may have been too far. Marvellous Monty and Rasasee are usually worth opposing and Visandi needs to get back to his form in 2016. Change Ur Tune is only modest but Canford Thompson was in good form on the all-weather earlier this year and can only improve on his fifth at Fakenham.
