In depth

Verdict

Billy Cuckoo, second in a point-to-point at Sligo last month, is an interesting prospect while there is surely more to come from last month's C&D winner Sir Johnson and the four-year-old Degenerate, who probably came up against a decent recruit in Black Thunder on his debut at Newton Abbot. But BHALTAIR impressed on his first start under Rules at Wetherby three weeks ago, forging clear inside the final furlong, and Donald McCain's gelding has the size to shrug off a penalty.
