In depth

Verdict

A competitive race in which Oursininlaw is ahead of the handicapper following his second at Worcester but he could find that he's up against it here nevertheless. Barnhill Brownie seems to have clicked this summer but the change in underfoot conditions may foil his hat-trick bid and preference is for HERMOSO who can make the most of the weight that he receives from his rivals. The Irish point winner has taken time to find his feet under Rules but he ran on strongly to score at Perth despite idling in front and he should continue to progress. Irish raider Thyne For Deploy has to be feared whilst neither Ambrose Princess nor Ripalong Lad are forlorn hopes but both have something to prove on a soft surface.
