    Verdict

Upcountry showed promise on his debut on soft ground at Newmarket last month and looks a leading contender with that experience under his belt. Russian Affair has also shown enough to suggest he can make his presence felt, but General Synod has disappointed in a couple of starts since returning from a lay-off and gets first-time headgear today. Newcomer Mufasa Rules is a brother to a winner on the all-weather and is worth noting, but Luca Cumani has an impressive strike rate with his three-year-olds at this track and SEMMSU is fancied to go one better than when a close-up second over C&D in July. 4.20
