Verdict
A poor start to the day's proceedings in which King Of The Dawn is the obvious selection following his win at Fontwell last month. The son of Rakaposhi King was making his debut for Peter Hedger when a five-length winner over Dragon King and the 12-year-old should be good enough on that evidence to defy a 7lb penalty under similarly testing conditions. Topweight Romantic Hero is capable of taking a hand but has shown very little sign of encouragement in two starts this season and is probably best watched, a comment that also applies to Golden Rose who races off the lowest mark she has done for some time. Spilaw proved at Leicester last time that this trip should hold no fears for him and, off a 3lb lower mark than when 11 lengths behind Follow The Trend, he warrants respect under a lightweight 10st 8lbs. Copper Shell has winning form in heavy ground as does Iron N Gold, who may do better than on his first start for over a year when pulled up at Uttoxeter last month.
