In depth

Verdict

It will be interesting to see how the market speaks regarding the Venetia Williams-trained New Zealand bred Fredensborg on his debut but those with racing experience hold solid claims and the vote goes to For All Mankind, who is preferred to Plumpton winner Safari Adventures who may struggle under his penalty. The selection lost no caste in defeat behind a useful looking type on his Warwick debut and, representing the yard of Mark Pitman that does well in this grade, he looks the one to beat. Alan King's Pangbourne fulfilled earlier promise when opening his account at Huntingdon last month but has more on his plate under a penalty today. Hereford winner Legal Glory struggled under his penalty at Wincanton last time and is hard to recommend on that evidence, while Team Leader needs to improve on his debut effort to trouble the judge. Lady Wilde has shown signs of ability and cannot be ruled out coming from the yard of Noel Chance, while Boston Strong Boy has done little wrong in defeat so far and is another to consider. For All Mankind holds solid claims on form though and he gets the vote.
