Verdict
James Given's Double Kudos showed plenty of promise on his Yarmouth debut last month when beaten a short head by Active Asset and is entitled to plenty of respect but narrow preference is for Innocent Splendour, who gets the verdict over the newcomer Mangrove Cay. The selection is trained by Ed Dunlop whose juveniles generally improve greatly for their first start and, having run promisingly when second to Hachita at Kempton first time out he is expected to step up on that effort. Soft ground should hold no fears for the son of Mtoto and he gets the vote. Mick Channon's horses are in good form now so Briannsta is expected to improve on previous form. The Mark Tompkins-trained Ringarooma is strictly held by Double Kudos on running at Yarmouth but cannot be discounted while a market move for the newcomer Star Side would be of interest. A bigger threat may come from David Loder's Danetime colt Mangrove Cay but Innocent Splendour has an obvious chance and gets the nod.
