Ruthie Babe ran on well when successful by a length at Ffos Las last week but a 6lb penalty for that victory makes this tougher and the William Haggas-trained filly may have to settle for minor honours in a race taken to go to DEVASSA, with Pherousa rated the pick of the remainder. The selection races in a nursery for the first time but Clive Cox has his string on a high now following the success of Jimmy Styles in the Ayr Gold Cup and, having shown improved form in each start in maidens, Devassa looks worth chancing off a mark of just 64. Freeforaday seemed not to get six furlongs at Lingfield last time and may do better back over five furlongs but of more interest may be Dusty Spirit, who has every chance of reversing running with Ruthie Babe from their form at Ffos Las. Pherousa just got the better of the selection at Bath earlier this month but on 4lbs better terms Devassa can reverse running from that day and she looks the one to be on.
