In depth

Verdict

Eastern Point gets the vote ahead of Full On, Amber Light and Mooresini in a race that should take little winning. Some mainly disappointing sorts line up here, with preference for Eastern Point despite the fact that she is now 13-years-old. The veteran mare had only ever won between the flags and in hunter-chase company before scoring over hurdles here in December, but ran well enough when second over fences at the Kent track last time, partnered as usual by the capable amateur Philip York. She is much better treated over the bigger obstacles, and her knowledge of the track is another plus factor. Full On is a long-standing maiden but is also well handicapped at present, while Amber Light has had various modes of headgear applied without success since coming over from Ireland. Mooresini is still learning his trade over fences and is best watched, as is the market for the chances of Crack On, whose dam is a half-sister to staying chaser King Lucifer. Any support for the Pipe chasing debutant should be heeded, however, it is Eastern Point that we look to as the answer.
