Verdict
Effectual hasn't been in the best of form over hurdles of late but has been found a soft race for what will be only his second start over the larger obstacles. The Venetia Williams-trained gelding boasts no less than eight wins over timber and still retains plenty of his old ability so it will be a surprise if he can't make his presence felt here to end a losing sequence stretching back to 1999. Bonny Boy has rattled up a sequence of victories in point-to-points this term but was soundly beaten over regulation fences last time so Kittenkat, who has shown only modest form over fences to date, looks the one for the forecast spot with the remainder outclassed.
