Verdict
The most valuable race on the card has drawn a useful field and Mulligatawny is the choice to successfully concede weight all round. The Josh Gifford-trained gelding has been lightly campaigned of late but showed he'd lost none of his enthusiasm when a battling winner at Ascot in December and was then far from disgraced when a strong finishing third over two-and-a-half miles at Sandown. The step up in distance looks sure to suit the nine-year-old who looks capable of further improvement with few miles on the clock. Lorgnette stepped up on previous efforts when runner-up over this trip at Wincanton last time but is more exposed than the selection and looks vulnerable to a progressive type. Barcelona is tumbling down the weights and takes an ease in grade but is hard to fancy judged on his recent efforts while recent Folkestone winner Half The Pot has shown his best form in more testing conditions.
