Verdict

Pilgrims Lane, from the Paul Nicholls stable, is bound to be popular with backers having run well in defeat at Newton Abbot last month but he may have to settle for minor honours again behind RISK, who looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to open his account and he gets the vote with Seattle Storm rated the pick of the remainder. The selection showed a decent level of form on the flat in France and looked all over the winner before falling two out on only his second start over timber; not disgraced in two starts since then, Charlie Egerton's gelding looks worth siding with. Alison Thorpe's Dashing Bach ran better at Towcester last time but needs to improve on that effort to trouble the judge, while Irish raider Berties Dream is lightly raced but was well held off a mark of just 95 at Southwell last time. Ashmolian is clearly better over hurdles than on the flat and has to be considered but more solid claims are held by Emma Lavelle's Seattle Storm, who was useful on the flat and has shown improved form of late over hurdles. Preference though is for Risk, who is taken to gain a deserved first success over timber.
