In depth

Verdict

Chess Board, Irish Whispers and Prime Bere are the three for the shortlist and the confident vote is given to Chess Board. Although he has had a few names called about him in the past, Chess Board was on his best behaviour last time out and showed enough to highlight him as a novice to follow and we stick with him again. Prime Bere finished behind and can be expected to improve for the run. He showed a modicum of ability in France before he moved to Britain so the market is watched. Irish Whispers has the services of Mick Fitzgerald. A maiden on the flat, he has it to do here. Countrywide Belle looks to struggle to see the bare minimum so it is surprising that connections have elected to step up in trip. Croft stayed up to twelve furlongs on the level although recent form hardly inspires confidence. Land of Light is a Gainsborough Stud castoff who is watched in the market on National Hunt debut. Chess Board is offered as a confident selection.
