In depth

Verdict

Aleemdar gets the call here ahead of Dunkerron, Lucky Arthur and Broughton Knows. Aleemdar improved for the application of cheekpieces to win a similar event last time and, clearly, looks to hold solid claims again here today. A repeat of his Warwick second in May would give Dunkerron a good chance, and he gets a solid mention, while Lucky Arthur showed enough in August to be rated a contender, that last comment applying also to Sheer Guts, who ran pretty well at Cartmel last time. Hunter Chase winner Gray Point should be watched for in the betting, while La Maestra needs to turn back the clock to feature. Winning pointer Jeune Premier is one to watch out for in the betting although he has clearly had his problems. Past Heritage seems to have regressed since winning a Taunton bumper so cheekpieces will have to have quite an effect for him to feature. Waziya is another that is being tried in cheekpieces, as is Broughton Knows, and the last-named of the the three just mentioned would appeal most of them. All of which returns us to the selection, which is Aleemdar.
