In depth

Verdict

Lightin' Jack gets the vote here ahead of Karakum. Lightin' Jack has shown enough recent form, particularly when fourth at Newton Abbot in April, to suggest he should be up to taking a race of this modest nature. He'll rarely get a better chance anyway. Karakum's second to Jazz Night at Huntingdon last time makes him a major player, while Down The Stretch has so far failed to match his Doncaster maiden chase second last December. Unless the market tells a different story, the others have something to prove, all of which returns us to the selection, which is Lightin' Jack.
