Verdict
San Hernando is going the right way and gets the vote over Philomena, Keltic Heritage and Lord Oscar. San Hernando had been off the track for well over a year when making his debut for Emma Lavelle at Newbury in March, and not surprisingly he blew up. The six-year-old put in a much better effort next time round here though, staying on into second behind subsequent winner Here We Go, and on that form he has to be supported to go one better with little mileage in the tank. Philomena opened her account in a mares' only novices event in February but was then pulled up after refusing two out when beaten at Towcester the following month. The ground was heavy on both occasions and it is interesting that connections risk her on this much faster going. She may play a part along with Keltic Heritage who is better treated over timber than over fences and normally acts well here. Lord Oscar may have more to offer than we have seen, but would only be considered if the market spoke kindly, and in any case the form selection has to be San Hernando.
