In depth

Verdict

First Man was a wide-margin winner at Stratford having shown very little previously. Due to be raised 13lb next week, he races here with only a 7lb penalty so is theoretically well treated and Paddy Brennan will be riding near his minimum. But we still prefer SEABORN, who took advantage of a drop in grade to also score with a ton in hand at Stratford – Niall Houlihan’s claim halves a hike in the weights. Gary Moore also runs Fume, who made market rival and previous winner Nachi Falls work hard for victory over a bit further here 10 days ago. Evita Du Mesnil is preferred to De Barley Basket of the others.
