In depth

Verdict

Aidan O'Brien wouldn't be having many runners in handicaps here so the presence of Cenotaph, who has been going well in tough races in Ireland, is intriguing. Sun Lover has been a beaten favourite in his two starts this season though has gone close on both occasions and can do so again. James Bethell doesn't waste long journeys from North Yorkshire and the consistent Truth Or Dare is in with a chance, though he keeps going up without winning. Pastoral Player won this in 2015 and arrives in winning form, though his victory at Epsom was in a lower-class handicap. In a wide-open event, a chance is taken with MR BOSSY BOOTS, a specialist on the all-weather but very well handicapped back on Turf. He didn't get the best of runs in this a year ago and hasn't run since January but his local trainer excels with these types and he can go well at a big price.
