    In depth

    Verdict

Red Evie has done nothing wrong this term and Michael Bell's filly is taken to score again with the main threats looking to come from Spinning Queen and Short Dance. The last mentioned looked good when winning in the soft at York in May and was subsequently disappointing in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. She is better than she showed that day and the Barry hills-trained filly does go on any ground but she may be better on a softer surface so looks best watched. Ed Dunlop's Nidhaal has yet to reproduce the best of her juvenile form and a bigger threat may come from Sir Michael Stoute's Cantabria, who is closely matched with Short Dance on Newbury form earlier in the season and remains open to further improvement. Spinning Queen looks to be going the right way right now and has to be considered but preference is for Red Evie, who has a progressive profile and may now be ready for the step up to this grade.
