Firenze, Borderlescott and Intrepid Jack are the three against the field in a typically wide open Stewards' Cup and Intrepid Jack is the selection. Firenze has won over the course and distance two outings ago and was only touched off in the closing stages in the Wokingham. Despite racing off a nine pound higher mark than when scoring here he still gives the impression of having more to give and will be a tough opponent. Borderlescott began the season with an impressive success in a York handicap and has run well twice since, fourth in the Wokingham and runner-up in a Listed contest in Ireland. This sharp track will suit him and he can use his pace to good effect. Intrepid Jack looks the best handicapped runner here however. Having been noted finishing fast in the Wokingham he was then run out of it in the final furlong in the Bunbury Cup, finishing a good second to Mine. He represents the yard in preference to the useful Prince Tamino and wears a visor for the first time which can ensure that Intrepid Jack leads them home.
