Verdict
Another tightly-knit handicap and many of the field can be given chances but Mutawaqued has hit a rich vein of form this season and is selected over the equally progressive Cerulean Rose - with Texas Gold and Najeebon also rated as live dangers. Turibius is another to consider but his tendency to miss the kick is off-putting in a race of this nature. Therefore, Mutawaqued, who was a fast finishing third in the Great St Wilfred last month, is a more reliable option in this grade. The five-year-old is a reformed character these days and now seems to conserve all his energies for the racetrack. The gelding's change in attitude has reaped a fair return from his outings this season and he can gain some deserved compensation for his solid effort in defeat at Ripon. Najeebon has a little to prove after failing to shine when well supported at Kempton at the start of this month. But he is still relatively unexposed and may represent a bigger danger to Mutawaqued than Cerulean Rose, whose ran as if held off her current mark at Bath five days ago.
