Verdict
A disappointing turnout for the opener and Mohatab gets the vote. John Gosden's colt improved significantly for his racecourse debut, which was run in bottomless ground at Newbury to finish fourth in a maiden over course in what was a decent maiden last month. The second, third and fifth have all come out and scored since in either maiden or handicap company, giving the form a solid look. The slight worry is the additional furlong which he is not guaranteed to get but we will take on trust connections decision to set him up in trip. Mazloma, an expensive yearling purchase, is certainly bred for further and found the seven furlongs around Chester too sharp last time. The form of that fillies maiden has taken a knock on more than one occasion since though. Marcus Tregoning saddles two here. Asfurah's Dream was nibbled in the market on his racecourse debut in a backend Lingfield maiden last season while Lady Marguerite is bred for the trip and the market should give a good indication of her chances. Pretty Ballerina's participation is doubtful as she contests Tuesday's Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot. Mohatab is selected to land the opener.
