In depth

Verdict

Plenty in with chances in a typically open sprint handicap and marginal preference is for Fantasy Believer while Gallivant, Ballybunion and Turibius are amongst a host of others to consider. John Quinn's gelding has thrived in recent months and was notching his second success of the current term when producing a fine turn of foot to land a competitive event at Ascot on his penultimate start. The son of Sure Blade was badly drawn when unplaced in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon on his latest start but still put up a creditable performance to lead the stands' side until the dying strides. Still fairly teated on a mark just 4lb higher than his latest success, Fantasy Believer is expected to give another good account under Jamie Spencer. Gallivant is a lightly raced type who is open to further improvement and enters calculations after a close fourth in a valuable sprint at Newmarket last week. Sir Michael Stoute's filly has been dropped 2lb since so has to be feared while Ballybunion remains on a fair mark despite a string of decent efforts including recent wins at Catterick and Folkestone. Turibius will prove well suited by the extra furlong after finding the minimum trip on the sharp side last time and is just 3lb higher compared to a previous Sandown victory. Recent Haydock winner Cd Flyer is another to consider while track specialist Zuhair can never be lightly dismissed but Fantasy Believer remains on a fair mark and can resume winning ways.
