Verdict

Richard Hannon won this race last year and he could repeat the dose with VALIANT KNIGHT though Workforce and Whipperway will be worthy of inclusion on any shortlist. Valiant Knight failed to handle the camber at Epsom last time out so that run can be instantly forgiven. Two fair runs at Sandown are enough to convince us that the potential is there. Workforce is an impeccably bred half brother to Extreme Impact. He holds no fancy entries but will improve on whatever he shows this afternoon. Whipperway had run well here previously when chasing home Water Biscuit. Her recent effort at Folkestone was surprisingly modest. Exceedthewildman ran third at big odds on debut at Ffos Las. The winner had been well exposed in the North previously. Haatheq has taken part in two very hot maidens thus far and will appreciate the apparent drop in class. River Landing is related to some seven furlong winners so cannot be dismissed. Sun Trap was allowed to go off at 100/1 on debut and while it is too early to suggest whether that maiden was strong by the track's standards, the suspicion is that it probably was not. Life And Soul is one of the more expensive recruits though a perusal at his breeding suggests that is he one to watch with tomorrow in mind rather than today. Valiant Knight can land the opener.
