Verdict

Gilded Youth is the choice ahead of Fleuret, newcomer Distant Drama and Make My Dream. Having had three runs as a juvenile, Gilded Youth was expected to know what was required on his reappearance at Leicester in May, and indeed he did as he picked up really well from halfway to run the favourite Double Bill to a neck. Given a break since, he looks a winner waiting to happen, and will be a popular choice to open his account. Fleuret was also narrowly defied on the Turf course at Lingfield three weeks ago, but she took an age to pick up, and still seems to be getting the hang of things. Mind you, she travelled well once she got going, and will not remain a maiden for much longer. Make My Dream keeps finding one or two too good, and has to give weight to all his younger rivals so is best watched, as should the market for the debutante Distant Drama, a daughter of Distant View. Oystermouth is from the same family as Avonbridge and Patavellian, but has a long way to go to emulate their feats, and on this occasion she and the rest may have to give best to Gilded Youth.
