In depth

Verdict

True Statesman has to do this the hard way off topweight but makes immediate appeal for the Johnstons. He's improving race-by-race, has a decent central draw and Ryan Moore is booked. Coco Jack, last of three less than a week ago, has the worst draw of all so it's best to look elsewhere. Self Praise finally came good last time and it's interesting to see connections apply first-time cheekpieces despite that success and X J Rascal should benefit from this extra furlong under William Buick. Far Shot has an ideal draw if breaking quickly, was probably unlucky in an Ascot nursery last time and makes plenty of appeal but SEDUCTIVE POWER is drawn next door, looks sure to appreciate the seventh furlong and impressed with the manner of her Newbury novice success.
